The first thing you need to know about smoothies: Each one is not created equal, says weight loss expert Harley Pasternak, author ofThe Body Reset Diet. That’s why the celeb trainer (who’s worked with Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, and a whole bunch of other celebs) teamed up with Jamba Juice to sell a line of smoothies straight out of his book — so customers had easy access to a drink that’s full of nutrients, low in sugar, and has zero junk ingredients.
If there’s not a Jamba Juice near you, though, don’t freak out — Pasternak stopped by to prepare the green smoothie for us on Facebook Live, so you can follow along and make it at home whenever you need a quick fix. And you can feel really good about drinking it, as it has the holy trinity for achieving satiety and a boosted metabolism: fiber, protein, and healthy fats. “These three things make you feel fuller faster and longer, and [they] help rev your metabolism,” he says. “Plus, they really stabilize your blood sugar.” (Another great choice? The protein punch comes from Greek yogurt and pepitas — AKA pumpkin seeds — which have a higher protein content than most nuts. (It also has fiber, manganese, and other micronutrients, notes Pasternak.) And while juicing requires you to remove the skin from fruits and veggies, Pasternak says that’s not always necessary with smoothies. “The skins of grapes are very heart healthy, and the pectin in apple skin really thickens up the smoothie,” he explains. So, not only does it make your life easier, but it boosts the health factor, too.
Pasternak’s last pro tip: Skip the ice and use frozen ingredients instead. That way you’ll still get the cool temp you’re after without watering down the flavor. (You can also try these freezer smoothies that do all the work for you.)

Green Up ‘n’ Go Smoothie
• 1/3 cup fat-free plain Greek yogurt
• 1/3 tablespoon lemon juice
• 3/4 cup chopped cucumber
• 1/2 cup green grapes
• 4 tablespoons pepitas
• 1/3 cup red apples
• 2 cups spinach
• 3/4 cup ice
In a blender or food processor, combine Greek yogurt, cucumber, grapes, pepitas, red apples, spinach, and ice. Blend until desired consistency.
