Dental Implants in Palm Desert Ca.

When natural teeth are lost or are not able to be saved, quality of life can often be improved and enhanced with the integration of dental implants and implant-retained teeth. Bitter Dental Clinic provides dental implants to patients that not only look and feel like natural teeth, but also help to prevent deterioration of the gums and jaw bone.

Tooth replacement may be single-tooth implants, or a series of implants to replace multiple missing teeth. Whatever the need we can help you solve the easiest or most complex combination of newly added implants to achieve a perfect healthy mouth.

dental-implantWhen teeth are lost, the bone where the tooth was housed can be damaged or resorbed away by the natural process of wound healing. For these instances, bone grafting (the process to grow back the lost bone structure) is necessary before dental implants are placed. This process can be done in many ways. After the bone graft heals, dental implants are typically placed where the teeth have been lost.

Dr. Bittner specializes in the placement and restoration of missing teeth using dental implants. Her practice is focused on these types of restorations, and she also trains with several renown oral surgeons in the Coachella Valley when needed.

With over 20+ years of general and cosmetic dentistry experience (including implant dentistry), Dr. Bittner has a reputation for incorporating the most advanced implant technologies into her dental implant procedure.

Are You a Good Candidate for Dental Implants?

If you’re wondering whether or not you’re a suitable candidate for dental implants, here are a few guidelines.

A good candidate for dental implants:

  • Has one or more missing teeth
  • Has a cracked or chipped tooth (or teeth)
  • Is in overall good health (with no medical conditions)
  • Has healthy teeth and gums

What Dental Implant Types are Available at Bittner Dental Clinic?

We use only the highest quality dental implants. There are many different brands available, but we make the choice simple,  we only use the best. The different implant brands that we offer are the most durable implants used in implant dentistry worldwide.

What Can You Expect from the Implant Placement Procedure?

Before surgery, Dr. Bittner will design a treatment plan that is custom-made to suit your dental needs. This is accomplished with the use of a I-Gen CT computed tomography  scan, which uses advanced radiology to create a 3D digital map of your mouth and jaw. This 3D image is then used to plan your implant procedure, including a virtual placement of the implant pre-surgery. This 3D digital image allows you as the patient to visualize the end result of the procedure and also guides the doctor during the procedure for the most precise placement and best surgical outcome.

The placement process itself is typically performed in a single office visit, during which local anesthetic is used (much like getting a filling or crown) to ensure that you are comfortable. Dr. Bittner will make a small incision in the gums and place the implant into the jawbone, providing a strong and steady support for the replacement tooth. If the jawbone isn’t strong enough to support the implant, the doctor can use bone grafts to make it sturdier (a process which, if the doctor finds it necessary, will be discussed with you during your consultation). With this procedure, one tooth or an entire mouth of replacement teeth can be placed in a dental visit, and you can begin to enjoy your strong, sturdy teeth and natural-looking smile instantly.

What is the Recovery Period Like?

For a simple implant placement, you will be surprised how little discomfort you will experience. Often, our patients find that they don’t have to miss work afterwards. For more complex implant procedures (ones that require two stages of surgery, such as those using bone grafting), you can expect to experience some mild swelling and bruising of your gums. There may also be some minor bleeding and discomfort at the implant site. These symptoms typically begin to subside around the second or third day after surgery. To relieve any discomfort during this time, you will be given medicine to relieve your discomfort and swelling.
